Your bus travel companion for eco-tourism

21 November 2012 - The Busbud.com website for intercity bus travel has been redesigned to celebrate its one-year anniversary. "Your worldwide bus travel companion" makes it easier for bus travellers around the world to find accurate travel information at their fingertips and make better travel decisions.

"We've worked really hard this past year and are proud to say that we now offer intercity bus schedules for 4,379 cities in 66 countries, in 10 languages and 15 currencies" said Louis-Philippe Maurice, Co-founder & CEO of Busbud. "When I backpacked through South America in early 2011, I often had difficulty finding trusted sources for bus travel information. We're now focused on solving this problem for travellers around the world."

At its core, the website offers a search tool allowing travellers to discover and plan their next bus trip. It also brings together a community of travellers, experienced and new, integrated with Facebook comments, so that travellers can talk to each other and share their stories. The site also includes guest travel bloggers who are available to give advice.

The aim is to encourage more culture and eco-friendly tourism. "Travelling by bus is a totally different experience from train or plane. You get a better experience of the community and culture by travelling by bus. In many places around the world, taking the bus is the only option. It’s also a more environmentally responsible way to travel."

The company plans to add new bus routes regularly by working with bus industry partners and plans to expand its service to smart phones in the coming months.
