Buses in Jamaica carry climate change message

Last month, the Jamaican Ministry of Water, Land, Environment and Climate Change unveiled a bus advertising campaign which seeks to draw national attention to the critical issue of climate change.

1 June 2013 - A number of Jamaica Urban Transit Company buses have been emblazoned with slogans such as 'Climate Change: We have to Change' and messages urging people to protect the environment –including coastal resources –  in a green campaign funded by the Government of Jamaica, the European Union(EU) and the United Nations Environment Programme’s (UNEP) Climate Change Adaptation Disaster Risk Reduction Project, as part of its public education initiative.

Water, Land, Environment and Climate Change Minister, Robert Pickersgill commented on the new campaign, saying “the use of buses is another way to reach thousands of people with the message".

It is hoped that commuters and motorists, on seeing the messages displayed, will make the green move to get more information about climate change and its effects and what they can do to help.
