An American website specialising in bringing together group tourism coach service providers and customers has just been given the White House seal of approval after being nominated for the prestigious White House Champions of Change programme “Transportation Technology Solutions for the 21st Century” awards. The company is also set on keeping up its meteoric rise with the launch of a new smartphone app.
29 April 2013 – Online group coach travel directory BusRates.com has received the White House seal of approval after being nominated for The White House Champions of Change programme “Transportation Technology Solutions for the 21st Century”.
Supported by the U.S. Department of Transportation and the White House Office, the event focuses on organisations with proven leadership in implementing technology solutions to enhance performance, reduce congestion, improve safety, and facilitate communication across the transport industry.
General Manager of BusRates.com, Eric Elliott, says, “We are grateful for the nomination… over 1.2 million groups use BusRates.com each year to orchestrate their group travel. It’s a measurable impact that we have on the transport industry”.
Safety is always of the utmost importance and the company works closely with Federal safety authorities in order to prevent unsafe operators from gaining exposure to potential charter groups. The website provides accessible records for every operator via the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT), allowing users to check up on the safety records of operators before they book.
“In addition to operators and travel suppliers, we also publish consumer-advocate articles to help first-time planners,” Elliott says. Nearly 75% of visitors to BusRates.com are first-time users, many curious about the advantages of group travel by bus. “Inbound traffic to our directory continues to grow. The charter industry is alive and well.”
