Home News IETT collects awards for innovation
Istanbul Electricity, Tramway and Tunnel General Management (IETT) won yet another prize for innovation during the “Turkey Innovation Week” held in Istanbul in December last year. IETT came first in the category “Culture and Organisation of Innovation”. The award was handed out to Dr. Kadir Topbas, the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, and Mr Mumin Kahveci, the General Manager of IETT.
Just a few months before, IETT was also receiving the “Bus Excelence Award” from IRU. Metrobüs, the bus rapid transit system in Istanbul, was very much appreciated by the Smart Move jury. Covering around 50 km and connecting most of Istanbul’s major metro and tram lines, Metrobüs carries around 800,000 passengers a day. The project was completed in 5 years and all the investment costs were covered by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
