IRU and Busworld Academy stage a congress in Moscow from 25 to 27 October, focusing on the sustainable future of the bus and coach industry.
Showcasing relevant initiatives such as IRU's Smart Move campaign, which champions the use of buses and coaches as a clean, safe and sustainable way to travel, the event covers “coach and tourism”, “bus and city” and “bus and financing”. Participants include policy makers, business leaders and professional experts.
Opening the bus and coach show, Mr Didier Ramoudt, President of Busworld International, said,
“Originating from Kortrijk (Belgium), Busworld geography is expanding to China, India, Turkey, Latin America and now Russia. The aim is to bring together a worldwide network of professionals with innovative and effective, green and safe solutions to address local needs.”

Speaking at the event, Oleg Kamberski, who leads IRU’s work in passenger transport, offered an overview of bus and coach challenges and prospects, within the European Union and globally. He presented IRU’s Smart Move campaign and its public-private working groups in the EU, Eurasia and India. He also announced the creation of a fourth Smart Move public-private high level group for the East African community in November this year.
The soon to be released IRU study on Passenger Transport in Eurasia has been recognised as a unique and highly useful resource. It will offer original analysis of data on the bus and coach markets and a study of the legal frameworks for passenger transport in Eurasian countries, relative to those in the EU, USA and China.
The congress is a knowledge platform, which is part of Busworld Russia, powered by Autotrans, the world's largest B2B exhibition of buses and coaches, with its first edition in Moscow this year.
