It is now even easier to pay for bus travel in London, as the latest contactless technology to pay for journeys with a simple swipe of a credit or debit card is now available onboard.
25 February 2013 On top of cash and Oyster cards, you can now also pay for your London bus travel using contactless credit, debit or charge cards that display the contactless payment symbol (pictured above).
Simply touching your card flat on the yellow card reader lets you pay as you board the bus - exactly the same as the current Oyster card.
The system also includes a smart and user-friendly safeguard to reject payments in case you place a contactless payment card and Oyster card together at the same time, to avoid charging you twice.
