An Australian bus company, the Four Hills Buses, has decided to decorate their buses in five different Christmas themes to raise money for a local children’s hospital. The initiative that started in 2007 managed to raise more than 8,300 Australian Dollars just last year. The man behind the festive mood, bus driver Peter Rose, said “The first year we raised $187, the second $4,200, the third $6,000 and this year our target is $10,000”.
“The drivers have shown great commitment and involvement, making the Christmas Bus family and community focused event. The buses have become very popular with passengers during the last few years, surprising many with a bit of Christmas cheer,” said Hillsbus spokesperson, Christine Bishara.
“It’s also great to know that donations will contribute towards providing specialised care and support for sick and injured children and that every customer on our buses helps the Hospital and the 60,000 families cared for each year.”
The Christmas bus themes include: Winter Wonderland Christmas, Santa’s Cave, Elf Christmas, Australian Christmas and Party Christmas, and placed a till on each bus to for a local children’s hospital. Each average sized bus has 350m metres of tinsel and 200-300 lights, with the larger one having more decorations.
