From 6 -10 December, the Santa Bus campaign collected food and monetary donations with collection bins on every bus and various bins in the Thunder Bay district of Canada. Santa Bus co-organisers, the Thunder Bay Transit and the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 966, managed to collect 1,290 pounds (585 kg) of food for the local charity, while fares and donations totalled 2,000 Canadian Dollars.
With the campaign growing in success every year, Jon Hendel, marketing and planning analyst with Thunder Bay Transit, said “it’s a great way for Transit to give back to the community. It’s the time of year when many are in need," he said. "Our Transit family is able to come together and do something great for our own community…We have so many operators and service crew that step forward and want to participate in this."
