Smart road charges electric buses while driving

ElectRoad’s approach proposes to forget about the expensive and heavy batteries that make the shift to electric transportation difficult. Israel’s ElectRoad has developed a Dynamic Wireless Power Transfer (DWPT) system that powers the vehicles wirelessly from the road. The system requires integrating wireless energy stripes into the permanent driving lanes. The stripes are quick and easy to implement. In only one day, one km of stripe can be installed. It is also safe to drivers, passengers and pedestrians.

The project’s first target is electric buses that use dedicated transport lines. The system can however be easily adjusted to all types of electric vehicles.
